Low maintenance indoor plants

Low Maintenance indoor plant
We all are of how important plants are for the environment and how quickly it transform  interior of house.

Now 2 years down the line have become a devoted plant mum, yes that the slang currently in use.

No I’m not a preacher to give reasons to plant trees and safe environment.
We all know the drill, we all try and do our bit.

If you have spent hard earn money on nursery, and felt shattered after  weeks as you see your plant die helplessly.
Then this post is for you.
I have shell out hundreds  on buying plants and mind you I’m not even exaggerating it.
When I love something, I do every bit towards them.
I use to spent nights in planting, replanting and decorating pots..
The more I got involved with them the more heartbreaking it was to see then dying.

So I figured out few plants that’s has been in my in-house nursery and Alhamdhulilha surviving each day.

1.Aloe Vera

Plant it and forget, basic rule for this plant, water it once or twice a week.
Aloe Vera multiply faster, keep it indoor or outdoor, once two week keep it under sunlight.

2.Money plant

money plant

My children often ask me why it called money plant when it can’t give money.
I’m clueless.
Earlier I used to plant money plant in soil, and noticed it didn’t yielded   and the leaves were rotting.
Then I switched to hydroponic method, a fancy name given to  the oldest  method  we all have grown up witnessing it.

Tip:
Snip off the stem at an angle and insert in water, make sure the nodes are fully inserted in water, as roots will be sprouting. Change the water once a week.

3. Ajwain /carom
The only plant who made it till 2 years which I bought from nursery.
Ajwain plant doesn’t required much care too, water it once a week and keep it shade.
You can easily plant a stem and it will yield,  I have 3 pots planted out of a single plant. They look beautiful and smell divine.
P. S: ajwain leave can also be used to cure cough and to make ajwain fritters.
4.Cactus:

Okay,  if don’t own it then what are you waiting for..
Cactus has been Bff for all the plant killer, you can’t kill them.
Just give them time, they won’t grow in size but doesn’t die too.
Keep them in shade or direct sunlight, and water once a fortnight.
P. S: Give them a bath, pour little water on it top, the pot should be well drained too.
5.snake plant / sansevieria

snake plant

The plant
who has the privilege to satisfy NASA.
What’s great about this plant?
It emit oxygen at night and absorb carbon monoxide and filters toxins preset in air.
Highly recommend to keep in bed room and the down side of the plant is it’s not a pet friendly plant.
Water it once a fortnight and again give a Bath with less water, and use a well drained pot.
Roots shouldn’t be wet.

These plants i have been baby sittings for the past years, though they are other plants which can be helpful for starters, like Areca palm, jade ,ferns.

If you arent a plant lover,
i suggest you to start with atleast one, there is no bigger joy in seeing them grow.

It is always good to have some greenery at home. These are really very nice options for that where we dont need much maintainance.

These are all good options for indoor plants but I have heard one should not keep cactus inside the house, as it has negative effects on health according to Vastu Shastra.

I never knew ajwain plant lasting for long. I always have aloe vera, tulsi and a couple of flower plants in my garden. This would be really helpful for those who want to have plants and have no time to take care of them
