Vitamin C for Skin

Today let’s break about VITAMIN C, a citrusy food full of antioxidants and free radical.

That doesn’t mean you can apply lemon to your skin, as its highly acidic and can damge your skin in long run and can make skin photosensitive. 

Vitamin C is not present in our body, unlike hyaluronic acid which already exists, it needs to be taken orally, so consume all the citrus fruits available, they are full of anti oxidant and anti inflammatory.

What is Vitamin C ??
Vitamin C is called as Ascorbic acid or L-ascorbic acid, it’s one of the purest forms, and is highly unstable. Vitamin C is water-soluble, it doesn’t penetrate in the layers of skin.Ascorbic acid or L ascorbic acid  is formulated at low Ph 1.0~2.0, which can irritated sensitive skin.

Since ascorbic acid is the purest form when exposed to oxygen it will oxidize easily.

They are many version of Vitamin C serum with different derivatives, to make it stable, less irritated and to retain the efficiency of ascorbic acid.
They are many  derivatives today will reveal few, because you need a different level to learn about it derivates.

THD:
On such derivative which is ideal for sensitive skin and is considered Gold standard form of a derivative is Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate THD, it contains Oil-soluble fatty acid components that penetrate in the deeper layer and is oxygen stable which doesn’t get oxidize easily.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate and ascorbyl glycoside:
MAP and ascorbyl glucoside is water-soluble and stable, that increase the hydration level.
They are many derivatives available just look for the ingredient as ascorbyl or ascorbate.

Composition:

Vitamin C comes in Different composition as 5%, 10%, 15% & 20%.
5% is being the lowest and safe to the start while 20% is high potent, which you need to avoid  as starters.
It is always advised to go for less percentage, the results may warry but its better for your skin in the long run.

They  are combination  that works great with Vitamin C :

Vitamin E -It’s an antioxidant, which products from UVA & UVB rays
Ferulic Acid- is a great combo that will speed up the effects of vitamin c
Sea buckthorn- it contains omega 3 fatty acid that
Glutathione- It brightens and lightens skin texture.
Gotu kola/Centella: It helps in fading blemished and scars.

Efficiency  of a product depends upon the active ingredients and composition  in vitamin c serum, no two brands ingredients list is same or percentage of the composition, so we cant judge which brand produces best vitamin C, lot of factors depends on its.
